Taste the world's finest international cuisine
When the Portuguese arrined in Asia they brought foodstuffs and cooking ideas from their settlements in Africa, South America and India as well as from home. These were combined and adapted by the local Chinese to create a truly international cuisine. Look out for Macanese dishes while you sample Macau's many culinary delights - hearty Portuguese, delectable Japanese, rich Italian, African, Indonesian and all kinds of Chinese - in restaurants to suit every tasts and budget.

Unique architectural heritage
In over four centuries Macau has not only inspired architecture of differrent traditions, it has preserved and maintained an extraordinary number of its building, making them part of everyday. As a result, within a short distance you can find Taoist temoles from the Ming Dynasty and baroque churches from the 18th century; hilltop fortresses from the 17th century and classic China Coast shophouses; the oldest European theatre in Asia and the first western lighthouse; colonial and Chinese courtyards.

Outdoors & Refreshment
There are trails designed for walking - or jogging or climbing - on the islands and in many parts of the city. From the track around Guia Hill there are spectacular views of the city and busy waterways, while a stroll along the Praia Grande introduces you to locals walking with their caged birds or practicing taichichuan exercises. You can also do exercises yourself, on equipment along trails on Coloane and around Guia Hill.It seems that Macau's different communities have learned from each other how to enjoy a break. So you find plenty of customers for the countless Chinese teahouses and Portuguese-style cafes, often with tables on the pavemnet. The locals get together to exchange news or discuss business while sampling the different brews accompanied by freshly - made pastries and cake that are famous throuhout the region. Everyone is welcome and you sit and relax as long as you like.

Museums
Macau is such as living museum that it hardly needs yo build them, but it does and the result are like nothing you'll have seen before. For instance the Maritime Museum is like a ship moored at the entrance of the Inner Harbour, the Museum of Macau has been built inside the foundations of the Monte Fort, the Taipa Houses Museum are restored houses on Taipa and the Pawnshop Museum is found in a fortress-like building that was a pawnshop until very recently. Of course some museum were purpose-built like the Grand Prix and Wine Museums that are part of the CAT (Tourism Activities Cantre) complex, however once you enter them you'll find yourself transported to the world of Formula 3 racing or the vineyards of Portugal.
